# mymind alternatives

mymind sorts your saves with AI so you never organise anything. The alternatives if you'd rather pick the folders yourself, or keep AI away from your stuff.

*A Savepad space with nested folders on the left and a grid of saves*

**TLDR**

- mymind is beautiful and calm. You save something, AI tags and sorts it, and you never think about structure. If that’s what you want, it’s the best at it.
- The alternatives are for people who want to decide where things go themselves, want a free plan, or don’t want AI reading their stuff.
- If you want folders and search with no AI, look at Savepad. If you want links only, look at Raindrop or Pinboard. If you want a community, look at Are.na.

## Why people look past mymind

mymind’s whole pitch is that you never organise anything. Save a photo of a chair, a quote, an article, and AI tags it, groups it, and lets you find it later by typing “blue chair”. It looks gorgeous doing it. Plenty of people love it, and fair enough.

The people who leave tend to say one of these:

- **“I want to know where things are.”** Smart collections are great until you need the exact 12 things for a client deck and the AI grouped them differently than your brain did.
- **“I don’t want AI reading my stuff.”** Your saves get read by models to be tagged. For personal stuff that’s fine for most. For work references, maybe less so.
- **“There’s no free plan.”** mymind is paid only.

## Savepad

Savepad is closest to mymind in one way (you save anything and it shows you the thing itself, not a favicon) and the opposite in another: you decide the structure. Spaces, folders, folders inside folders, and tags, all set up however your brain works. One save can sit in five folders and it’s still one save.

It has no AI, on purpose. Colours are pulled from the image itself, text in screenshots is read with OCR (old-school recognition, no model), and search runs over the text of every page, PDF, and email. You can search by colour like mymind, just without a model guessing what’s in the picture. The [second brain](https://savepad.app/blog/second-brain) post goes into how I think about this.

Free for 150 saves, then €4.99 or €9.99 a month.

## Raindrop.io

If what you saved in mymind was mostly links, [Raindrop](https://savepad.app/compare/raindrop) is the cheap, sensible choice. Collections, tags, extensions everywhere, and a free plan with unlimited bookmarks. Its Pro plan now has an AI assistant too, so if you’re running from AI, check what you’re running into. The [Raindrop alternatives](https://savepad.app/blog/raindrop-alternatives) post covers that bit.

## Are.na

[Are.na](https://savepad.app/compare/are-na) is calm in the same way mymind is calm, but social. You collect blocks into channels and can follow other people’s channels. No ads, paid for by members. It’s lovely for research and slow thinking.

## Pinboard

Text only, no previews, no AI, a small yearly fee. If mymind felt like too much, Pinboard is the other extreme.

*A mock product card for a wooden lounge chair*

0953 · Home · Flat

*A mock ad for the fictional sneaker brand Stomp*

0150 · Work · Paid social

*A mock recipe card for biryani with a checklist of ingredients*

0247 · Home · Recipes

What mymind would auto-sort, sorted by hand into folders in Savepad: a chair for the flat, a sneaker ad, and a recipe.

## Moving from mymind

Export from mymind’s settings, get the links into a CSV with one URL per row, and import that. In Savepad, every link gets fetched again with a fresh preview and a full-page snapshot. Images you uploaded come across by dragging them in. The [import docs](https://savepad.app/docs/import-from-other-apps) have the details, and [folders vs tags](https://savepad.app/blog/folders-vs-tags) is worth a read before you build the structure, since that’s the whole reason you moved.

The full head-to-head is on the [mymind alternative](https://savepad.app/compare/mymind) page.

## FAQ

### Does mymind have a free plan?

No. mymind is paid only, with plans from about $4.99 to $12.99 a month. Savepad, Are.na, and Raindrop all have free plans.

### Is there a mymind alternative without AI?

Savepad has no AI at all: no auto-tags, no summaries, nothing sent to a model. Pinboard and plain browser bookmarks have none either, but they only keep links.

### Can I get my saves out of mymind?

mymind lets you export your library from its settings. Get the links into a CSV, one URL per row, and most tools can import that.
