Where do your saves go now? Mozilla shut Pocket down on 8 July 2025. Exports ran until **6 November 2025** (pushed back from 8 October), then the data was deleted. - If you downloaded your export, it’s a CSV with the title, URL, date added, tags and read status of every save. Most apps can import it. - Where to go depends on what you used Pocket for: reading articles later, or keeping links you’d need again. ## What happened Mozilla announced in May 2025 that Pocket would close. The app and the extension stopped working on 8 July 2025. After that it was export-only, first until 8 October and then, after a last-minute extension, until 6 November 2025. After that, everything was deleted. If you’re reading this and never exported: sorry. There’s no way to get it back now. Check your email for a “your Pocket export is ready” message, in case you requested it and forgot. ## What’s in the export A ZIP with a CSV (usually called `part_000000.csv`) and these columns: - `title` - `url` - `time_added` (a Unix timestamp) - `tags` (separated with `|`) - `status` (unread or archive) No article text, no highlights. Just the list. The articles themselves still live on the web, where they haven’t died. ## Where to go, depending on what Pocket was for you **If you read long articles later, on your phone:** look at Instapaper, Readwise Reader or Matter. They’re built around the reading experience: a nice text view, highlights, sometimes text-to-speech. That’s what they’re best at. **If Pocket was really a bookmark dump:** most people’s Pocket was 2,000 links they never read and 40 they needed again. For that, you want a bookmark manager, where search and folders matter more than the reading view. [Raindrop.io](https://savepad.app/compare/raindrop) is the obvious one, and it’s been around for years. **If you saved articles as references for work:** examples of landing pages, newsletters, launch posts. Then you want a copy of the page itself, in case the link dies. That’s a swipe file. ## Moving to Savepad This is where Savepad fits if you’re in the last group, or somewhere between the last two. *A mock homepage for a fictional dev tool, Tidepool* 0102 · tidepool.dev · saved 2021 *A mock blog post for a fictional SaaS, Lumen* 0199 · lumen.io · blog · saved 2022 *A mock newsletter from a fictional publication* 0296 · newsletter · saved 2024 A Pocket export after it lands in Savepad: the same links, with fresh previews, snapshots and the date you first saved them. 1. Go to **Settings → Import and export** and pick the space it goes into. 2. Choose the CSV from your Pocket export. 3. Savepad shows a preview, then brings every link in with its tags and the date you saved it. Pocket’s `|`-separated tags come across as tags. 4. In the background it fetches every page again, with a fresh preview, a full-page snapshot and a clean reading copy. If a page has died since you saved it, you’ll see which ones. The reading copy means you can still read articles later, in a clean view, on your phone. It’s just not the whole point, the way it was in Pocket.
