# Links and web pages

Save any web page with a full-page screenshot, a reading copy, its colours, and every word searchable. How to save links, and what you get.

A link is the thing most people save first. A landing page, a blog post, that one pricing table. Savepad keeps the link, and also keeps the page the way it looked the day you saved it, because pages change and that hero you liked will be gone by next quarter.

## How to save a link

- **Paste it.** Copy the address, press ⌘V anywhere in Savepad.
- **The save dialog.** Press **N**, paste, pick a folder, add a note.
- **Email it.** Send the link to your Savepad address from your phone. A mail that’s only links becomes one save per link.
- **Ask your assistant**, once it’s [connected](https://savepad.app/docs/connect-an-assistant).
- **Import a pile** from Raindrop, Pocket, your browser, or a CSV with [the importer](https://savepad.app/docs/import-from-other-apps).

Savepad also spots special links. Video sites become [videos](https://savepad.app/docs/videos), maps links become [places](https://savepad.app/docs/places-and-maps), recipe sites become [recipes](https://savepad.app/docs/recipes), and ad library links become [ads](https://savepad.app/docs/ad-library-links).

## What you get

- The page’s title, description, favicon, and preview image
- A **full-page screenshot**, top to bottom
- A **reading copy** of the text, so every word on the page is searchable and you can read it in [reading mode](https://savepad.app/docs/reading-mode)
- The **colours** from the preview image, to [search by colour](https://savepad.app/docs/search#search-by-colour)
- **Open**, **Copy link**, and **Favourite it** buttons, your folders, tags, and a note

## When a site won’t play along

Some sites block anyone who isn’t a logged-in person: Instagram, LinkedIn, a lot of paywalls. The link still saves and opens fine, there’s just no preview. The fix is a screenshot. Drop it into the same folder and the two sit side by side. The words in the screenshot are searchable, too.
