Savepad as an Evernote alternative
Evernote has been the notes app for clipping the web since before most of us had smartphones. Its free plan now holds 50 notes and one notebook, and a lot of long-time users are looking around. If you mostly write notes, a notes app is the right replacement. If you mostly clipped things, Savepad is built for that.
Where Evernote wins
Writing notes
A proper editor with tables, tasks, and templates. Savepad has notes, but they're for annotating saves, not writing documents.
Scanning documents
Scan paper with your phone camera into a note. Savepad takes photos and PDFs, but has no scanner.
Teams
Shared notebooks and spaces. Savepad is for one person.
Where Savepad wins
Pages kept properly
A full-page screenshot at desktop and phone width plus a reading copy, not a messy clip of the page.
Search inside screenshots
Every image gets its text read, so a search finds the screenshot that said it.
Made for references
Emails as emails, onboarding sequences in order, fonts with a type tester, and colour filters.
A bigger free plan
Evernote Free holds 50 notes. Savepad Free holds 150 saves.

Which one is for you?
Stay on Evernote
If it's mainly where you write, and the editor and scanner are what you use every day.
Pick Savepad
If your Evernote was mostly clippings, screenshots, and things you saved from somewhere else.
Moving over
Savepad doesn't read ENEX files. Re-save the links you still care about, or import a CSV of URLs if you have one.
FAQs
Can I import my Evernote notes?
Not ENEX files. Notes apps like Obsidian and Bear read those. For clippings, import a CSV of the links.
Can I use Savepad and Evernote together?
Sure. Lots of people keep Evernote for what it's best at and use Savepad as their swipe file. You can export everything from Savepad whenever you like, so you're never locked in.
Does Savepad use AI?
Nope. No summaries, no auto-tagging, and nothing gets sent to a model. If you want AI, connect your own over MCP.
