The best bookmark managers

The bookmark managers worth using in 2026, from free browser bookmarks to Raindrop, Pinboard, and Savepad, with what each is best at, prices, and which ones use AI.

TLDR

  • For most people, Raindrop.io is the answer: free, fast, on every device. It now has AI features on Pro, if that matters to you.
  • For links you’ll need again in five years, pick one that keeps a copy of the page. Savepad does it on every plan, Pinboard on its archive plan, Raindrop on Pro.
  • For plain and fast with no frills, Pinboard. For reading later, an actual reader app. For a few hundred links, your browser is fine.

What makes a bookmark manager good

The test is simple: can you find the thing again? Saving is easy, every tool does that. The difference is in what happens two years later, when you remember “that pricing page with the toggle” and nothing else.

What helps:

  • Search inside the page, not just the title you never edited.
  • A copy of the page, because a good chunk of links die within a few years.
  • Previews you can recognise, not 400 identical favicons.
  • An export, so you’re never stuck.

The bookmark managers

Raindrop.io

The default recommendation, and deservedly. Collections, nested collections, tags, browser extensions everywhere, apps on every phone, and a free plan with unlimited bookmarks. Pro adds full-text search, permanent copies, highlights, and an AI assistant (Stella) with AI suggestions. If you want a good bookmark manager and don’t want to think about it, Raindrop. The Raindrop alternatives post covers who it isn’t for.

Savepad

Savepad (🔌) keeps every link as a full-page screenshot at desktop and phone widths, a clean reading copy, and its colours and fonts, on every plan. Search reads the text of every page, PDF, and email, and the words in screenshots. It also saves things that aren’t links: images, PDFs, emails, notes, fonts, places, code. Folders inside folders and tags. No AI, no browser extension yet (you paste, drop, or email things in). Free for 150 saves, then €4.99 or €9.99 a month. The bookmark manager use case shows it in action.

Pinboard

Text-only, fast, and run by one person since 2009. A small yearly fee, tags, and an optional archive that saves a copy of every page. No previews and no AI. It feels like 2012 in the best way.

Your browser’s bookmarks

Free, already there, and they sync inside one browser. Fine for a few hundred links if you keep a tidy folder structure, and the how to organize bookmarks post has one. They fall apart past that, and they don’t keep pages.

Readwise Reader and Instapaper

Reading apps, not bookmark managers, but people use them as one. Great for long articles you’ll actually read, less so for keeping a homepage as it looked. See the best read-it-later apps.

Notion

A database with a web clipper. Flexible, and good if your team lives there, but the clipper mangles designed pages. The Notion Web Clipper alternatives post has more.

Picking one

Save links and want it simple: Raindrop. Save the thing itself (the ad, the page, the screenshot) and need to find it by what’s inside: Savepad. Want text-only and calm: Pinboard. Already have 3,000 browser bookmarks? Export them first and import into whichever you pick. And if you keep losing links you’d swear you saved, visual bookmark managers are worth a read.
