Savee and Cosmos alternatives

Savee and Cosmos are great for discovering images. If you need a private library for pages, emails, fonts, and screenshots too, these are the alternatives.

TLDR

  • Savee and Cosmos are image-first tools with a discovery side: you browse what other people collected and save what you like. Both look great.
  • They’re less good as a private work library, where a reference is a full page, an email, a font, or a screenshot you need to search by its text.
  • If you want discovery, stay where you are or try Are.na. If you want a private library of everything, try Savepad or Eagle.

What they’re for

Savee is a grid of inspiration with a big design community, trending collections, extensions for every browser, phone apps, and a Figma plugin. You save images and browse what other designers save.

Cosmos is built for finding new images. Search by colour, by visual similarity, keep collections, and you can hide AI-generated images (respect, that’s more than Pinterest does).

Both are lovely for “show me things like this”. Neither is really trying to be the place you keep a landing page with its copy, or an onboarding email sequence.

Why designers look elsewhere

  • Everything is an image. Save a page and you get a picture of it. The words on it, the font it used, the colours, the copy, are gone.
  • Discovery is distracting. Opening your own library and getting a feed of trending stuff is great until you have a deadline.
  • Work stuff doesn’t fit. Emails, PDFs, code snippets, a font you want to test, an onboarding flow in order.

Savepad

Savepad has no feed and no recommendations. It only shows you your own stuff, and every save opens as what it is. A page comes with a full-page screenshot, a reading copy, its palette, and its fonts. A font gets a type tester. An email opens as an email. Images have their text read so you can search “free shipping” and find the screenshot. Colour search is there too.

It’s private until you switch something public, folder by folder, so your client work never sits in a public feed. The design swipe file post shows a full setup.

Are.na

If you liked the community side but want something calmer, Are.na is the move. Channels, connections, no ads, no algorithm. Very good for research.

Eagle

Eagle is a desktop app for big local image libraries, $29.95 once. If you want your images on your own disk and don’t need the web, it’s great. The Eagle alternatives post goes deeper.

Pinterest

Still the biggest, still free, and still full of AI images and ads. Pinterest alternatives has the long rant.

One reference three ways in Savepad: the page with its palette, the typeface it used, and the hero as a screenshot.

Moving over

Savee and Cosmos don’t give you a neat export of links, so this is the slow way: download your collections as images and drag them into Savepad, where the text in each one gets read for search. For anything where you still have the URL, paste the links in a CSV and import them as full pages.

The full comparisons are on the Savee alternative and Cosmos alternative pages, and design inspiration websites has places worth filling your library from.
