MagicBrief alternatives

MagicBrief shut down on 31 July 2026 after Canva bought it. What happened to your saved ads, and the swipe file and creative analytics tools worth moving to.

TLDR

  • MagicBrief shut down on 31 July 2026. Canva bought it in 2025 and the team built Canva Grow, a creative analytics product inside Canva.
  • Insights reports could be exported as CSV. Inspire collections, the ads you saved, had no bulk export.
  • If you lost a swipe file: rebuild it from the free ad libraries into a tool you control, and export it every few months.

What happened

Canva announced it was buying MagicBrief at Cannes Lions in 2025. Billing stopped, and the team spent a year building Canva Grow instead. MagicBrief’s own FAQ set the closing date as 31 July 2026.

Before the close, you could export Insights reports as CSV. What you couldn’t do was bulk export Inspire, the collections of other brands’ ads that most people used as their swipe file. If you didn’t screenshot or note them before July, they’re gone.

That’s the second time in two years a popular tool took people’s saves with it. Pocket did the same thing in 2025. Pick something that exports, and actually export it.

If you used Inspire as a swipe file

Foreplay is the obvious move. A swipe file for ads, a search over millions of ads, competitor tracking, and briefs. From $49 a month billed yearly.

Swipekit is the cheaper version of that shape. $26 a month for five seats, 14 days free without a card.

Savepad doesn’t search ads you never saw. It keeps the ones you save, with the landing page they pointed to and the email that came after, searchable by the words in them, screenshots included. Everything exports on every plan as ZIP, HTML, CSV, JSON, or Markdown, so this can’t happen to you twice. The export docs have the formats.

If you used Insights for your own ads

Motion is the creative analytics tool most teams compare MagicBrief to. Reports on your own ad performance, built for bigger budgets, priced on spend.

Canva Grow is MagicBrief’s successor, if you’re already in Canva.

Rebuilding a swipe file from scratch

It’s annoying, but it’s a good excuse to keep only what you’d actually use.

  1. Open the Meta Ad Library and search the brands you used to follow.
  2. Do the same in the TikTok Creative Center for top ads in your industry.
  3. Save the ones that still make you stop scrolling. Paste the link, or screenshot it.
  4. Write one line on why you saved it. Future you won’t remember.

The ad swipe file post goes step by step.
